A smooth, round, aromatic and well-balanced wine.
Chardonnay is undoubtedly the best known grape variety worldwide. It originated in Burgundy and is used in this region’s great wines, which adds to its international prominence. It is reputed for producing very elegant white wines. Its floral and fruit aromas are enhanced by being aged in wood.
Chardonnay is the second most cultivated grape variety in France and prospers especially well in Pays d’Oc. In this region, the hills are packed with favourable clayey limestone and stony soils, where Roche Mazet selects wines from the best plots to craft a unique blend. Part of this meticulous combination is aged in wood to add body to the fruit and enhance the rich aromatic palette of this grape variety.
Roche Mazet chardonnay displays a luminous pale robe with golden tints. On the nose, it has an elegant blend of honeyed pear, fresh almond and sweet spice aromas. On the palate, it is creamy and velvety with woody and vanilla flavours. The whole is crafted into a perfect combination of balance, roundness and elegance.
Served chilled at 12°C (54°F), this elegant white wine is a delight for an aperitif and throughout a whole meal. It is a perfect accompaniment for shellfish, fish, white meats and soft cheeses such as Brie de Meaux.
Fish Bordeaux-fashion: chardonnay is creamy and richly supple and combines marvellously with the tenderness of fish. With this dish, it will soften the spicy kick of the bordelaise sauce.
Selection of soft cheeses: the chardonnay’s round elegance contrasts nicely with the strong taste of these cheeses.
Scallop carpaccio in vanilla oil: the honeyed pear and fresh almond aromas of the chardonnay will revive the carpaccio’s vanilla oil.
Pays d’Oc is a vast mosaic of wine growing situations and conditions.
Roche Mazet picks out the places where the best of each grape variety is expressed and carefully blends them together with respect and great passion.
