You may know it as the iconic variety of the Alsace wine region, but did you know that this grape has more than one trick up its sleeve? Gewurztraminer, whose name comes from the German word « gewurz » meaning « spicy » combined with « Tramin », a town in Italy, has today established itself around the world. In both warm and cool climates, under the Australian sunshine and in the sun-baked soils of the Languedoc, Gewurztraminer can be found in endless variations, adapting effortlessly, but never losing its fabulous aromatic intensity.
It is precisely these organoleptic qualities that Roche Mazet has decided to bring to the forefrunt through a pure expression of this unique grape variety. Carefully selected, the fruit comes from the coolest areas of the Pays d’Oc. Enchanting aromas of rose, lychee, and citrus result from a perfectly controlled fermentation. As for its richness and texture - these qualities are highlighted by aging the wine on fine lees for several months.
The pale golden hue and subtle green reflections of our Roche Mazet Gewurztraminer holds many secrets. The aromatic profile includes lovely floral notes, exotic fruits, and hints of lemon and grapefruit. This complexity carries through to the palate, supported by a superb balance between sweetness and acidity. Its round and fruity finish will leave an unforgettable impression.
Serve this wine chilled, between 10 and 12°C, to allow it to reveal its full complexity. This wine wine can be enjoyed either on its own as an aperitif or alongside flavorful dishes, such as Asian cuisine or chocolate.
Foie gras: an indulgent and elegant combination where Gewurztraminer envelops this festive dish with great finesse.
Aged Mimolette: the fruity aromas and bold, sometimes spicy flavors of this aged hard cheese contrast beautifully with this wine.
Chicken curry: a daring match of bold flavors, with the wine's roundness softening the curry's spices.
Pays d’Oc is a vast mosaic of wine growing situations and conditions.
Roche Mazet picks out the places where the best of each grape variety is expressed and carefully blends them together with respect and great passion.
